Bonny River, NB - In a move that many call "desperate," Sheriff Johnny Borthwick has appointed two new recruits. Joe Stevens and Jim Buchanan were sworn in Saturday at a ceremony in Bonny River. Recent reports of gang wars and gang presence in the area had residents worried about their safety.
Constable Joe Stevens met briefly with reporters and noted, "There have been a lot of gang related poeple coming in and we felt that we needed to beef up security. Nick Ganong and his gang were getting very vocal about their plans and this is a reaction to that."
Constable Jim Buchanan added, "When you have mobsters from places like St. Stephen talking trash all the time, it is totally unacceptable. We as a community will not tolerate it. This is serious."
