Stevens loses in close match

Ratz star Joe Stevens falters in match versus Cookie Monster

Bonny River, NB - In a very hotly contested match, Joe Stevens was forced into submission in a wrestling match versus his arch rival The Cookie Monster. Stevens held his own for about ten minutes but the Monster realized that a bag of chocolate chip cookies were at stake and that was all it took for him to upset the Ratz Captain.

Moffitt the new fashion guru at the Hockey Voice?

Andrew Moffitt shows off his fashion sense

Bonny River, NB - Talks are under way right now that may see Andrew Moffitt join the Hockey Voice staff as the fashion consultant. All calls to the publication are not being returned and Moffitt has remained tight-lipped about the rumour although he did offer, "If the Hockey Voice is calling, I'm listening. That's all I've got to say about that!"

Joe Walsh explains his presence on Hockey Voice staff

Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Joe Walsh says he owes a great deal to the Hockey Voice and wonders what life would have been like without the gig. "Being the entertainment critic can be tough. I know for Cunny being the head psychic can be tough, but at least he has a crystal ball to look into. I listen or watch something and tell everybody about it. Talk about pressure. The money I get from this is being invested wisely. I put a lot of it into beer bottles. I find it's pretty well the only thing that has remained constant for the past few years. Right now, I'm saving my empties to buy a new 4 wheeler. I throw a few beer in my packpack and go running. That way I can get fit, have a few beer along the way and save for my future. As Keith Richards says - It's great to be here, it's great to be anywhere," said a very sentimental Walsh.

Kingfishers release Mr. June from their calendar photos

Walsh upset over hockey card

Matty Walsh being lit up

Blacks Harbour, NB - Matty Walsh has his trading card released to the public and he's upset over the choice of picture. The picture portrays Walsh in a "unflattering" position according to him.

"They have cards of Joe Walsh and Shane Smith and it just shows them either playing hockey or in the dressing room. No, they had to show me getting lit up and I'm pissed. They don't even play in the FIHL. This is crap, man," noted Walsh.

Jamie Harris and Matty Walsh at Camp Morning Wood

Blacks Harbour, NB - Both Matty Walsh and Jamie Harris were trying to downplay their getaway trip but when the Hockey Voice caught up with them, they opened up that things were strained, but everything is behind them now.

"I still own 51 % of the team versus Harris' 49 %. He has to understand that and I think deep down, he does," noted Walsh.

Report: Gould to sign on as new Ratz coach

Almost $3,000,000 over 3 years?
Mike Gould on his way to Ratz headquarters late Monday night

Bonny River, NB - The Bonny River Ratz have reportedly reached a tentative deal with Mike Gould to coach the storied franchise. One report has Gould agreeing to a $2.75 million deal stretched over three years. The story has caused a great deal of anxiety in the local hockey scene.

One outspoken person was Kingfishers GM Matty Walsh who called the deal "foolish." "You mean to tell me that an industrial hockey league team can pay a coach almost a million bucks a year? This will ruin the league if they are throwing that kind of cake around. We ain't got it and I'm sure nobody else does," noted Walsh as he left Kingfishers headquarters early Tuesday.

The story broke on the heels of a story that Ratz star Mark Taylor had just signed a one year extension on his current 9 year deal. According to sources, Gould jumped when he heard the news that Taylor has signed the extension. It has been speculated that Gould told Ratz management that they had to show him they were serious about winning and this was the piece to the puzzle.

Team spokesman Joe Stevens did meet with reporters briefly early Tuesday. He offered, "Although I am not going to confirm the numbers being thrown around by Walsh and others, let's just say Gould can give up his day job. We need him to concentrate on the day to day stuff right away. It kind of went under the radar, but the Ratz locked up Taylor last week until at least the 2020-2021 season. Gould made it clear that he wasn't going to be a part of any rebuilding program and wanted to re-load instead. Let's all hope everybody survives the cuts that may or may not come about. We have 15 guys on the roster with one year deals that expire this summer. We only know of one guy who will be here for sure this fall so it's wide open."
