Ratz Topple Timberwolves in ShootoutRatz Cap Winner Warren Gisbrecht
Blacks Harbour, NB - It was the ending that the Bonny River Ratz didn’t feel they would have to participate in but as fate would have it, they did. The Ratz beat the Blacks Harbour Timberwolves Sunday night 6-5 in a thrilling shootout despite holding a lead most of the contest. The Ratz were paced by Jim Buchanan’s and Jason McFarlane’s pair each and singles by Mark Taylor, while Eric Lee and Joe Stevens scored in the shootout. Stevens' goal proved to be the eventual winner. The Timberwolves got their offense from John Oliver, Shane Lee, Randy Hanley, Brandon Malloy and Ryan Kinney. Malloy also scored in the shootout.

After the game, a very philosophical Joe Stevens said, “We tried everything to give this one away tonight. If we didn’t have Warren Giesbrecht tonight, I shudder to think what would have happened. I guess we’ll take the win any way you can especially after we’ve lost the last three games.”
There was a special presentation at a post game press conference in which Giesbrecht was awarded the inaugural Ratz Cap, awarded to the Ratz player of the game. Giebrecht made some big time stops when the Ratz seemed to be on the ropes and again in the shootout closing the door on Dan Levesque, Eric Jean, Randy Hanley and Ryan Kinney.
