Blacks Harbour – The St. George XXX took a 2-1 second period lead and blew it wide open in the third to beat the Bonny River Ratz 6-1. Thanks to great goaltending from Nick Ganong and an anemic Ratz attack, the XXX brought their season record to 1 win and 1 loss. The 0-2 Ratz got some spectacular saves from their goalie Warren Giesbrecht, but unfortunately, he could not score. The XXX got a pair of goals from Scott Matheson and singles from Chris Hill, Darryl Cook, Kris Van Horne and Matt Stuart. The only Ratz player to bend the twines was Jason McFarlane.
After the game, Jim Buchanan met with reporters to talk about the game. "We were a bit understaffed tonight with only 10 guys. We got Shane Lee into our lineup and that was a positive thing. The only thing is I think would have needed BRUCE LEE in order to win tonight."
