Blacks Harbour, NB - The continuing battle for top spot continued Tuesday night and this round went to the Kingfishers who won 9-3. The Kingfishers were back-stopped by rookie sensation Lorne Grant who is turning some heads with his stellar play.
The win leap-frogged them birds into fist place with 27 points, one more than the XXX's 26. The XXX and Kingfishers have both played 16 games but the XXX play Thursday night in St. Andrews versus the Blackland Twisters and will be able to jump back to top spot if they can get the W.
In the other game Tuesday, Andrew Moffitt's hat trick and team leading point-getter Greg Justason's pair paced the Ratz to a 6-2 victory over the Twisters. The game marked the return of Ratz goalie Warren Giesbrecht and he was solid. The win put the Ratz (17 points) to within 1 point of the Twisters (18 points) in the fight for 3rd spot.
